Training Seminar-with Kristen Hoffman 7/20/08

AKC Hunt Test Retriever Seminar

Wow, we had a great training seminar on Sunday!!! Kristen Hoffman did a superb job in addressing member’s issues in their training programs or with their dogs. She addressed among other subjects:

1. General obedience
2. Obedience from the truck to the line and back
3. Breaking
4. Poor hold
5. Low momentum on blinds
6. Popping
7. 7 deadly sins
8. Bugging
9. Handling tips
10. Whistles and whistle use
11. E-collars and use
12. Several training drills – 7 Day 7 Bumper Force to Water, Balancing Drill, Log Retired/Short Retired, etc.

Thanks to Lee Elam for making the arrangements with Kristen and handling coffee, doughnuts and lunch. We had 17 club members plus several other family members attend the seminar. We also had help from Rusty Stull (Kristen’s assistant), Nicholas Elam and Parker Kindley as bird boys.

We have new members that joined TRC this weekend also, Brent Marlow, Stephanie Franz and Allen Zimmerman.

Recent new members Jim and Judy Fifer made a VERY GENEROUS donation to the club. We really appreciate their consideration and support.

Kristen is a hoot with a lot of good information and a load of good practical experience. She made the seminar go very fast but took the time to answer everybody’s questions and address every issue raised. When you see her next thank her for sharing her experience, information and taking the time out of her training schedule to help Tidewater members.
